Sample Collection Sites

Virginia Hospital Center (VHC) and Arlington County Public Health Department have partnered to open two COVID-19 Sample Collection Sites in Arlington.

The Drive-Through and Walk-Up Collection Sites are for COVID-19 sample collection from symptomatic patients (fevers, chills, cough, or shortness of breath) with a written order for COVID-19 testing from a licensed healthcare provider.

Drive-Through Collection Site

1429 N. Quincy Street
Arlington, VA 22207

Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm

Physician’s Order & Appointment, Proof of Identity

Individuals are required to arrive and remain in their car with their windows rolled up, until instructed to do otherwise.

Walk-Up Collection Site

909 S. Dinwiddie Street
Arlington, VA 22204
Patients may access the clinic at Arlington Mill Community Center by entering through the outdoor plaza facing Columbia Pike.

Monday – Friday, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Physician’s Order & Appointment, Proof of Identity

A physician’s order and an appointment are required at both Collection Sites. Call 703-558-5766 between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:30 pm to schedule an appointment

If you do not have a physician’s order, you will be scheduled for a telehealth visit with a provider for screening. If you meet the testing criteria, you will be given an order and an appointment.

If you do not have Health Insurance, you can still access testing through the walk-up collection site by calling the appointment number.  A VHC clinician will screen for symptoms over the phone and provide a follow-up referral to the Arlington Free Clinic if needed. Patients will be scheduled regardless of their ability to pay, their insurance coverage and their immigration status.

If you have access to a car, you will be asked to go to the drive-through site at 1429 N. Quincy Street Arlington, VA 22207.  If not, you will be given an appointment at the walk-up site at 909 S. Dinwiddie Street Arlington, VA 22204.

IMPORTANT: Individuals who visit the collection site should follow the instructions of their health care provider and self-isolate while they await their results.

Test results will be available to the patient within five to seven business days, and will be posted in each patient’s VHC patient portal (MyVHC). Positive results will be reported to patients by phone.

Positive Test Results

If you test positive for COVID-19, CDC Guidelines state that you will need to stay home from work and self-isolate for at least 10 days with no fever and the resolution of symptoms. All members of your household will also need to self-isolate.
